Interfaith Student Center Input Groups
Facilitated by the Zeidler Center
Vision for the Center
The vision for this project is an Interfaith Student Center adjacent to the Marquette University Campus and Redeemer Lutheran Church, designed largely for university students in the Greater Milwaukee area. Currently there is no designated space that meets the needs of students and promotes greater peace and understanding. We wonder whether such a space could gather young people of many faiths around shared interests, perhaps including some of the following:
a. nature/ecology
b. community service
c. fellowship (food, fun, and learning)
d. the arts
e. peace and understanding
f. intentional community; residential living accommodations
The Planning Process
The Siebert Lutheran Foundation has issued a Planning Grant to Redeemer Lutheran Church. The planning grant anticipates work listed below by committed people from a variety of faith traditions in Milwaukee:
a. meetings of interested stakeholders
b. three visits to existing Interfaith Centers located at colleges/universities
c. one-on-one interviews with students and neighborhood stakeholders
d. surveys and focus groups
e. interviews of design and building firms
f. solicit proposals from building/renovation firms
g. design and launch fundraising campaign
